Gift Giving History

In early civilizations to show love and loyalty, people gave gifts to their tribal leaders and each other. To fashion unique objects of gifts they used bark and wood from trees.

There are gift traditions worldwide. Idols and pyramids were built in Egypt to home the pharaohs. Gifts were given to kings in the medieval age, to gain allegiance in a war. Also kings received gifts to gain personal favor. Most of these gifts were gold, silver and jewels. Also beloved ones would receive gifts of precious metals, jewelry and even herds of animals.

Ancient Rome had gift giving at the beginning of winter traces. To honor Saturn, their harvest god and Mithras, the god of light. The Romans held year end celebrations. The people prepared special foods, joined in gift giving and singing and decorated their homes with greenery. This custom became part of gift giving.

Human beings have been giving gifts since ancient times. Historians believe that this is how the bartering system was started. Land that was passed from one generation to an other was considered a gift.

Jesus Christ, at the time of his birth, was associated with gift giving. The three wise men brought three gifts to Baby Jesus to honor him. The first gift was gold, a gift for a King. The second gift was incense, a gift for a priest and the third gift was myrrh, a burial ointment for one who would die. The idea of giving gifts to newborns could have started with this bible story.

Today, we give gifts for so many reasons. We give gifts for birthdays, holidays, farewells, thank yours to welcome someone or just because they are special.

We sometimes give gifts to people that we really do not know that well, but we fell obligated to do so. For example, a co-worker or someone ay an event that we must attend. We struggle to pick out a gift that will be appropriate for the occasion. Sometimes this becomes a very difficult task instead of being a wonderful opportunity.

Aviary Cages: Giving Your Pet Canary Bird Space For Exercise

Hey, its Arlo from CanaryStore.com Today i’d like to share with you how to keep you canaries happy and entertained… ==================================================================== Major Mistake #6: Dying of Boredom ==================================================================== Just because canaries have a “bird brain” that doesn’t mean that they don’t like a little excitement, entertainment and play time. Like small children, if you fail to properly entertain your new pet canary, they’ll live to make you sorry. Birds are much, much smarter than they’re often given credit for, and this inherent intelligence demands some type of physical and mental stimulation to maintain optimal health and well-being. While your children may complain that they’re dying of boredom, when it comes to your canary, this is actually a very real risk… Bored or anxious canaries are prone to a whole host of illnesses and issues, ranging from plucking their own feathers, ceasing to sing, lack of interest in breeding and more… Fortunately, remedying the problem is as simple as a short, inexpensive visit to your local pet supply store to pick up a few things to add a little excitement to your canary’s life. Here are just 5 simple entertainment items you can use 1: Mirrors 2: Bells 3: Table-tennis balls 4: Tree branches Even if you’re on a budget, you can often create your own unique entertainment items, as long as you keep a few simple guidelines in mind:

1. Do NOT overcrowd your canary’s cage with toys and other items as this can lead to depression, aggression or just overall discomfort and a cramped environment.

2. Don’t use long strings or chains since your canary may very well get tangled up in them and possibly seriously injured.

3. Switch out your canary’s toys and play-things regularly so that they don’t get bogged down with the monotony.

4. Avoid any objects that are toxic, have sharp edges or that bear small pieces (like little beads, etc.) that your canary could swallow and choke on. Keep a close eye on your canary to insure that he or she is showing all of the signs of happiness and contentment. If you begin to suspect that your canary could benefit from a little extra toys or interaction, whatever you do – don’t procrastinate. When your canary is dying from boredom, they very well could be LITERALLY dying from boredom… In my downloadable ‘Canary Keeping for Beginners’ guide I reveal a whole host of neat entertainment tips, tricks and techniques for you to use with your canaries.im also including an entire ‘Songbirds Audio Set’ for your canaries to sing and reply to and keep them entertained easily! However this ‘fast-action bonus’ is only available for the next few customers who take me up on my offer. After these places have been filled I cant garauntee they’ll still be available.
