   Joshua trees, acacia, and mesquite come to mind. Date palms are said to grow “with their feet in the water and their heads in the fire”. Just because there is little surface water does not mean that there is no water available in a desert. Many plants live on “fossil water” that fell as rain a century back and is travelling slowly through an underground aquifer.

   A desert environment if you included an oaissi ( which exist in a classic deseret environment is flourishing with trees o various types…many types of plams ( date nut palm comes to mind)olive trees/and several types of conifers as well……
