Dec 15, 09 at 4:05 pmJoshua trees, acacia, and mesquite come to mind. Date palms are said to grow “with their feet in the water and their heads in the fire”. Just because there is little surface water does not mean that there is no water available in a desert. Many plants live on “fossil water” that fell as rain a century back and is travelling slowly through an underground aquifer.
